Effective Treatment of Shoulder Pain At Home: Home Remedies for Stiff Shoulder

Sendentary Lifestyle has resulted in increased incidence of shoulder pains. Simple homebased treatment and some home remedies can be helpful in alleviating the pain and distress.

  • Trauma or injury to the tendons, muscles, ligaments or the shoulder blade is another important cause.
  • Arthritis of the spine can also trigger shoulder discomfort and pain; it compresses the nerves and causes shoulder pain as well as neck pain.
  • Cervical spondylosis is another significant cause.
  • Rotator cuff injury causes excruciating shoulder pain and stiffness, making movement almost negligible. The rotator cuff supports the shoulder joint; lifting heavy weights, sports that involve a lot of throwing, or habitual use of the joint for a very long time, injures the rotator cuff.
  • Inflammation under the diaphragm can also cause referred pain in the shoulder.

Treatment for Shoulder Pain: What You Can Do At Home to Treat Shoulder Pain

Rest: give ample rest to the affected area. Use your shoulder as little as possible, at least for two days. Slowly start exercising the shoulder. Visiting a physio-therapist is advised.

Ice: for the first day, when you experience the pain, use ice packs. Place the ice pack on the shoulder for 15 minutes, about 3 times. Do not apply heat during the early phase; it increases the pain and inflammation.

Elevation: Elevation helps lessen the swelling and considerably reduces the pain. Use pillows for support.

Pain control: in you have unbearable pain, analgesics can be taken. Homoeopathy drugs offer quick relief as well.

Home Remedies for Shoulder Pain and Stiffness

  • Ginger: ginger is a powerful anti inflammatory herb; it effectively eases pain and swelling of the joint, thereby improving the range of motion. Have 1 glass of ginger tea everyday.
  • Turmeric: turmeric is another potent remedy to fight inflammations and swellings. Take 1 spoon of pounded turmeric in hot water. It will alleviate pain and stiffness rapidly.
  • Black sesame seeds: soak 1 spoon of the seeds in water for 2 hours, then consume. Black sesame gets rid of stiffness and manages shoulder pain successfully.
